Ireland operates below a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). The school leaving qualification attained by college students known as the Leaving Certificate. It is considered Level four-5 on the framework. This qualification is the normal route of entry into third degree training. There are additionally Level 5 qualifications in certain vocational topics (e.g. Level 5 Certificate in Restaurant Operations) awarded by the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC).
